I’m currently pregnant and have had three different dreams about women trying to take my baby from my stomach. Although I can only fully remember two of them, they’ve been unsettling enough that I’m trying to understand their meaning.
Dream 1: The Woman in Black in the Bathroom
I was in a bathroom, looking at myself in the mirror while dancing. Then, I noticed a woman in black enter behind me. She drifted to the side, out of sight, and every time I tried to look at her, she would hide.
Suddenly, I felt stomach cramps in my dream and in real life.
I sat on the toilet to poop, but as I started pushing, it felt like I was giving birth instead. The woman slowly began getting closer and closer until the dream ended. I woke up with real stomach cramps.
Dream 2: The Woman in the Café Who Turned Evil
In another dream, I was sitting in a café or restaurant with my husband and kids. A kind, friendly woman sat next to us. She was smiling, talking, and laughing with us while we ate.
Then, suddenly, she morphed into a different woman.
She reached over me with both hands and grabbed my belly. I asked her, “What are you doing?” and she responded with an eerie, forceful voice, “GET IT OUT.”
I turned to look at her behind me, and she had a terrifying, evil expression. She then forcefully pushed down on my stomach, trying to make me miscarry. I woke up immediately.
The Real-Life Connection – A Strange Coincidence?
A week later, I was online looking for a midwife and came across a woman dressed in all black. She reminded me of the woman from my first dream, so I immediately chose a different midwife.
Then, the next day, that new midwife called me and told me she works alongside another woman—and it just so happens to be the same woman in black from my dream.
I have no idea what to make of this. What could these dreams mean?
These dreams feel deeply protective, primal, and possibly intuitive. When pregnant, the subconscious mind becomes hyperaware of potential threats—whether real or symbolic. Let’s break this down.
1. Pregnancy & Subconscious Protection
- Pregnancy often triggers vivid, intense dreams because your body and mind are in a heightened state of protection for your baby.
- Dreams where someone is trying to harm the baby can represent your inner fears, anxieties, or even real-world concerns about safety.
- The fact that you physically felt cramps in your sleep suggests that your body and subconscious are deeply linked right now.
2. The Woman in Black – A Symbol of Fear or an Actual Warning?
- The woman in black appears in both dreams, hiding or lurking.
- She could symbolize:
- Fear of harm coming to your baby.
- A real-world person or energy that feels untrustworthy.
- A spiritual message warning you about something or someone.
- The real-life connection to the midwife who reminded you of this woman cannot be ignored. It’s possible your subconscious recognized something in her energy before you even met her.
3. The Bathroom Dream – Symbolism of Birth & Loss
- Bathrooms in dreams symbolize cleansing, transformation, or emotional processing.
- The act of pushing but feeling like you were giving birth could symbolize:
- A fear of preterm labor or miscarriage.
- Your body subconsciously responding to actual pregnancy symptoms.
- A deep awareness of physical changes happening within you.
- The woman lurking and getting closer could symbolize an unwanted external force trying to interfere with your pregnancy or personal space.
4. The Café Dream – False Comfort & Hidden Threats
- The woman first seemed friendly and welcoming, then morphed into something evil.
- This could mean:
- Trusting the wrong person.
- A hidden danger disguised as kindness.
- A subconscious warning about someone who seems “nice” but has bad intentions.
- Her aggressive action of pushing your belly directly represents an attempt to harm your child.
