Lately, I’ve been having recurring dreams with symbols related to my feet, and they’re starting to stand out to me. In one dream, I was moving and realized I forgot my socks. Another time, I was on a moving train, heading to a new car, and I found my old sandals from back in high school. They were cheap slip-on sandals, but they lasted forever. I found two pairs—one with inverted colors—and I had a hard time getting the right pair to fit. Later that night, I had another dream where I was standing on some rocks in a small pond or large puddle, wearing leather sandals. I accidentally got them wet, which ruined them, and then I struggled to keep them on my feet, almost falling into the water.
Right now, things in my life aren’t going too well, but I have been slowly making progress with some trauma issues. However, it often feels like the psychological struggles just keep getting deeper and more mysterious, as though the goalposts keep moving, and I’ll never really get through it.
Feet in dreams are often associated with our path in life, our grounding, and how we move forward. In your dreams, the sandals—being a more casual and easily removable form of footwear—might symbolize a need for comfort or stability that you’re currently lacking. The fact that the sandals are from a time in your life when you were in high school could suggest you’re revisiting past experiences or emotions tied to that time.
The struggle with getting the right pair of sandals on and your difficulty keeping them on your feet might represent challenges in finding balance or stability in your life right now. Since you’re making progress with your trauma, the wet sandals and almost falling into the water might indicate that despite your efforts, you feel like certain aspects of your past or unresolved feelings are still threatening to pull you under or hold you back.
The image of getting the sandals wet and ruining them could point to feelings of losing control or a fear of things not working out as planned. Overall, the recurring foot and sandal imagery seems to reflect a sense of instability or insecurity in your waking life, possibly amplified by your ongoing psychological struggles. The dream suggests you are still searching for stability, but the process feels overwhelming and uncertain, with progress seeming elusive at times.
