I had this vivid dream where I was asleep in my childhood bedroom. My dreams often take me back to my old home or feature elements from it. In this one, I woke up in the middle of the night, and the window in my room was open. When I went to close it, I noticed something moving in the distance. A massive snake was slithering toward my window.

The snake was enormous—its head was as large as a dinner plate, and its body stretched about 14 feet long. Its skin was bright yellow with black spots. As I moved to shut the window, the snake locked eyes with me. An overwhelming sense of dread washed over me. I scrambled to lock the window, but I knew deep down that the snake could shatter the glass if it wanted to.

Just as it was about to strike, I realized I was in a nightmare. Panicked, I threw myself to the ground and started pounding my fists while repeating, “Wake up, wake up.” A moment later, I woke up for real, feeling immensely relieved. I’m not usually afraid of snakes, but this dream left me unsettled with a creepy, almost foreboding vibe.
