Last night, I had an incredibly vivid and long dream. I can’t recall every detail, but the part that stuck with me is about a large black poodle and its strange behavior.
It began with me inside someone’s living room, arguing with two adults. In the middle of our discussion, I pointed out something crawling along the outside walls. Whatever it was seemed black and unsettling. Despite the tension, the argument wasn’t hostile, just heated.
We eventually went outside to investigate and discovered the “creature” was actually a large black poodle with kind, gentle eyes. The dog was tied to a fence, so I removed its leash to set it free. Soon after, the dog’s owner appeared, but the poodle refused to leave my side and clearly wanted to stay with me. I decided to bring it home.
Oddly, the poodle kept growing larger and larger—eventually standing about 2 meters tall at the shoulder. Later, I went out for coffee with friends, but I didn’t tell the dog where I was going. In its desperation to find me, it caused chaos throughout the city. When we reunited, we hugged, and I felt an overwhelming connection to the dog.
The city’s mayor, however, decided the dog was a threat and wanted it shot. To escape this fate, I left the town with the dog. By the end of the dream, I was riding it like a horse.
I’ve always associated black poodles with ominous meanings. Around my home village, stories circulate about black poodles being harbingers of death or even connected to the devil, especially if their eyes are red. However, the dog in my dream had kind eyes, which leaves me confused. Was this dog a good omen or a bad one?
Black Poodles and Cultural Associations:
Black dogs, particularly poodles, are often associated with folklore and symbolism. While red-eyed black poodles are sometimes linked to ominous themes, the kind eyes of your dream dog suggest a different meaning. This poodle could represent loyalty, protection, and a deep emotional bond.
The Dog’s Growth:
The poodle’s continuous growth might symbolize something in your life that feels overwhelming yet comforting—perhaps a relationship, responsibility, or hidden potential.
Chaos and Reunion:
The chaos caused by the dog searching for you indicates a strong connection or dependency. This might mirror a part of your life where you feel deeply needed or have someone/something you’re equally devoted to.
Leaving Town and Riding the Dog:
Leaving town and riding the dog like a horse suggests a sense of freedom or escape. The dog might symbolize a source of strength helping you overcome obstacles or leave behind negative circumstances.
Kind Eyes vs. Red Eyes:
While folklore often paints black poodles as ominous, the kind eyes in your dream suggest the opposite. This dog might represent a protective force, urging you to trust your instincts and nurture connections that feel genuine.
